Heading into the 2024 season, many scouts and analysts regarded Georgia Bulldogs’ senior quarterback Carson Beck as one of the best QB prospects and a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned for the All-SEC Second Team winner in 2023, who struggled and suffered a significant elbow injury. Beck took a step back in production and wasn’t efficient this season, throwing for 3,485 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and 12, including nine in a four-game span. To make matters worse, he suffered a season-ending UCL injury in his right throwing elbow against the Texas Longhorns in the SEC Championship game.
The Georiga Bulldogs’ senior quarterback initially decided to forego his final year of eligibility
On Saturday, December 28, Carson Beck announced his intention to forego his final year of college eligibility and declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. Beck had one final year of eligibility because COVID gave players an extra year, and he technically redshirted in 2021 since he appeared in less than six games. His decision to declare for the draft garnered controversy and pushback from many reporters, GMs, former GMs, and scouts, as highlighted by Todd McShay of The Ringer.
“Carson Beck made a bad decision to leave early,” McShay said. “I talked to a bunch of guys in the league, GMs, former GMs, scouts. One scout wrote back to me. One-word answer: Foolish. I thought he got better late in the season. But I don’t think he’s there yet. He played great in certain moments. But he never this year played to the level many of us expected him to play to.”

Bulldogs’ All-SEC signal-caller reverses course, changes his plans for 2025
According to Pete Nakos of On3, Carson Beck reversed course and intends to enter the transfer portal rather than declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. As Nakos points out, Beck immediately becomes the top available player in the transfer portal and will probably be one of the highest-paid transfers in college football history.

Which team will he play for in 2025?
According to Pete Thamel of ESPN, the Miami Hurricanes are the favorites to land Carson Beck. Although the Hurricanes are the favorites to land the graduate transfer, Beck will listen to all potential suitors in hopes of finding the best situation for him in 2025, which will assist with his draft stock for the 2026 draft. As the source told Thamel, he will make a strategic and not an emotional decision.
While Miami looms as the favorite for Beck, a source said that Beck’s camp intends to listen to all potential suitors for the best situation: “It’s a strategic thing, not an emotional thing,” the source said.
