The Georgia Bulldogs entered Saturday night’s game on the road against the Kentucky Wildcats as the number-one-ranked team in the country. Kentucky had Georgia on the ropes at one point in the game, but the Bulldogs were able to escape with a 13-12 win on the road against the Wildcats.
There were times in the game when head coach Kirby Smart was getting on his players on the sidelines. It will not be the last time he will get on them this season either. The Georgia Bulldogs may have escaped with a win and improved to 3-0 on the season, but they have massive concerns entering the bye week.
The Georgia Bulldogs Dropped To Number 2 In the Country Despite Winning Against the Kentucky Wildcats
Despite the win against Kentucky, Georgia dropped from number one to number two in the Top 25 rankings. The Texas Longhorns are the new number-one team in the country after they defeated the UTSA Roadrunners 56-7 on Saturday night.
In the game against Kentucky, Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck struggled by completing 15-of-24 passes for 160 yards. He did not throw a touchdown pass or an interception. Beck made the plays when he needed to, but he will need to be better against tougher competition.
Carson Beck is projected to be one of the top picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. Also, the Bulldogs have had to deal with injuries this season and the latest injury is to Tate Ratledge. Trevor Etienne and other players have been banged up this season.
Brutal Schedule After the Bye
Georgia will face the 4 Alabama Crimson Tide on the road after the bye in a SEC Championship Game rematch on the road. This will be the first of four tough tests for the Bulldogs for the remainder of the 2024 college football season.
After that game against Alabama, the next toughest test for the Georgia Bulldogs will be on the road against 1 Texas Longhorns on October 19. Also, the Bulldogs will face the 5 Ole Miss Rebels on the road on November 9 and host the 6 Tennessee Volunteers on November 16.
It will be very interesting to see how many of those games Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs will win. There is no doubt that they are going to be massively tested in those games. The Bulldogs will need to win as many of those games as they can to make the college football playoff. Georgia could be a team that misses the playoffs with this kind of schedule, but they have the talent to win all of those games.
