George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers tight end, recently spilled plenty of tea on his latest appearance on the ‘Bussing With The Boys’ podcast. One of the topics that Kittle spoke about was the whole drama surrounding former 49ers linebacker De’Vondre Campbell. Campbell was on the 49ers roster in the previous football season but was removed from the team’s starting lineup.
This, of course, did not please the linebacker very much since he later refused to play when head coach Kyle Shanahan called him up. Shocking to everyone, Campbell refused to play, and this ensued in an embarrassing on-field argument between the linebacker and the team’s officials, including general manager John Lynch.
“Security escorted him off the property and said, ‘Don’t come back.’ I had no idea until I saw him walking off the field. And apparently there’s, like, a whole bunch of stuff. Like, John Lynch came out of the suite and was like, yelling at him.” George Kittle spoke about De’Vondre Campbell and the 49ers last season.

De’Vondre Campbell’s behavior with the team led him to be suspended for the entire 2024 NFL season. After the season ended, the San Francisco 49ers did not re-sign the talented linebacker and neither did any other team.

Meanwhile, George Kittle recently scored an enormous contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers, which makes him the highest-paid tight end in the history of the National Football League as of now. Kittle has been with the 49ers since 2017 and will be hoping to take the team to greater heights in the upcoming NFL season, with starting quarterback Brock Purdy.
George Kittle Throws Light On Retirement Timeline
In the same podcast episode, George Kittle also discussed his retirement from football. At 31 years old, the tight end is definitely pretty far from retirement. He also revealed that he pumps out plenty of money, close to 250k a year, in order to keep his health in the best shape. Still, many football players do choose to retire early, especially if they feel they have accomplished enough or if an injury unfortunately ends their career.

According to Kittle, he will consider retirement when he feels he is no longer having fun in the game. Another criterion he gave was if his wife, Claire, is opinionated that he does not look so good out there in the field. However, as of now, it looks like George Kittle has many more seasons to go in the NFL.
