Geno Smith recently discussed his feelings about reuniting with his old coach, Pete Carroll in the Las Vegas Raiders team. Pete Carroll recently stepped away from his advisory duties with the Seattle Seahawks earlier this year. Carroll was the team’s head coach from 2010 to 2023 when he resigned from the post. Despite being one of the oldest coaches in the league at 73 years of age, Carroll has shown that he is not ready to slow down any time soon.
Smith and Carroll know each other pretty well from their time in the Seattle Seahawks. Geno Smith played for the team from 2019 to 2024 and will be playing the upcoming season with the Las Vegas Raiders under Carroll as head coach.
“I think if you believe in fate, you believe in things like that, then it’s like the stars are all aligning, right?” Smith said. “It’s all the things that you would want. I could see Pete, but all the guys that he would want to be a part of it? We’re here, we’re doing this thing together. And I was sick, man, when [Carroll] left Seattle — I was sick. And I didn’t see this coming. I think it’s going to be great for both of us.” Geno Smith said about Pete Carroll and the Las Vegas Raiders in a recent interview with Albert Breer for Sports Illustrated.
Geno Smith has been in the NFL since 2013 after he was selected by the New York Jets as the 39th pick in the second round of the draft. Since then, Smith has played for teams like the New York Giants and the Los Angeles Chargers before ending up at Seattle to play with the Seahawks from 2019 to 2024.

Geno Smith Was Eyed By Other Teams Apart From Las Vegas Raiders
While coming to the Las Vegas Raiders is fate for Geno Smith, the player apparently was eyed by several other teams. However, after learning that his Seattle coach Pete Carroll was headed to the Raiders, Smith’s decision was much clearer. By reuniting with Carroll, Smith surely hopes to revamp his stats.

In the 2024 NFL season, the quarterback managed a total of 4,320 passing yards, scoring 21 touchdowns for the team, while managing 15 interceptions. Hopefully, Geno Smith will be putting up much better numbers on the scoreboard in the 2025 NFL season under the guidance of Pete Carroll for the Las Vegas Raiders.
