Heading into the 2025 college football season, LSU Tigers quarterback Garrett Nussmeier has some high expectations. In his first season as a starting quarterback, the program went 9-4 and looked sharp after sitting behind Jayden Daniels.
However, there is one college football analyst who has put all their chips on the table for Garrett Nussmeier and claimed he is the best overall quarterback in this upcoming college football season. Let’s take a deeper dive into who made this claim.
CFB Analyst Believes Garrett Nussmeier is Best College QB

While appearing on The Paul Finebaum Show, SEC Network’s Jordan Rodgers made a very bold claim as he believes LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier to be the best quarterback entering the 2025 college football season.
“I think Garrett Nussmeier is the best quarterback in the entire country. I think he is ready for a monster year, and partly because of who he is and what we saw from him last year. I think he’s one of the best quarterbacks under pressure. He’s be able to create, navigate the pocket, throw off platform, be accurate in tight windows.”
Nussmeier was able to step up in his first season as a starting quarterback as he completed 336 of 525 (64.2%) of his passes for 4,052 yards with 29 passing touchdowns to 12 interceptions while also rushing 34 times for -38 yards (-1.1 yards per carry) with three rushing touchdowns. He was the backup quarterback for the first three seasons with the LSU Tigers before officially getting the starting job last season.
It will be interesting to see if Nussmeier is able to elevate LSU to a College Football Playoff level this season and see where NFL teams view him as this is his final season of eligibility.
