Indianapolis signed Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Gardner Minshew to a 1-year contract worth $3.5 million. The signing was confirmed by a team source.  NFL Network Journalist Tom Pelissero also confirmed the signing.

According to NFL Reporter Ian Rappoport, Minshew’s deal can max out at $5.5 million.

Time will tell if Minshew starts for the Colts. Indianapolis currently holds the fourth pick in the draft and will most likely draft a quarterback.

Gardner Minshew joins Nick Foles and Sam Ehlinger in Indy’s quarterback room. Minshew also reunites with Shane Steichen. Steichen was the Eagle’s offensive coordinator for two seasons and worked with Minshew.

Minshew was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL draft. Minshew played well with the Jaguars. Minshew has orchestrated four fourth-quarter comebacks. One came against the Colts during week 1 of the 2020 season. Jacksonville won the game 27-20.

Minshew suited up when Jalen Hurts was dealing with a shoulder injury. Minshew passed for 663 yards, threw 3 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions.

Minshew has completed 586 passes in his career. Minshew has passed for 6,632 yards, thrown 44 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions.

Signing Minshew is a good move by the Colts. Minshew has proven he can operate an NFL offense and win games. Fans should be excited to see what Minshew can do in 2023.
