You’re confused. I get it. But not as confused as I was when I looked down into a sad, styrofoam (don’t judge me), bowl of Velveeta/Rotel dip. Don’t get me wrong. It’s “good.” It always will be. However, I just can’t condone this behavior anymore. I’m better than this. I think back to 2018, 2019, and even 2020. I was a snack GODDESS. The old me would have been disappointed in this crockpot created, mild, cheesy, three-ingredient dip. Have I really become this complacent with the Tide’s winnings that I think we don’t need a little food for encouragement? This is where I put my foot down… to eventually pick it up again and get in the kitchen. I searched high and low for the best recipes for game day so that you don’t have to.
Stuffed Mushrooms
Here’s the recipe. I’ve made this countless times and I’m going to be honest. You can skip a lot of these steps. I don’t know about you, but I don’t much want to “deglaze a pan” for game day. I also combine my ingredients differently, in which I skip a lot of these steps. These are not Alabama themed, but they are always a hit, I promise. Here is a slightly unappealing photo of a previous batch. If you would like a more appetizing photo, please refer to the Pioneer Woman.
Alabama Game Day Sliders
I’m definitely adding this one to the list for future games. It seems filling, different, and savory. Also, sliders are way more fun than a regular sandwich. You can even serve them on a board, so it’s a yes from me.
Crimson Tide Jell-O Jigglers
If these are too cute for a football game, then I guess they just are. Don’t worry, I found the mold. Do worry, because it is sold out. I’ll keep checking. Am I crazy for thinking that I could make chocolates in this mold too? I like how I act like I’m skilled at candy making.
Hot Cheesy Philly Cheesesteak Dip
I know, I was just kind of dissing the most classic game day dip ever. This is different though. It’s Philly cheesesteak dip. Nothing to do with Alabama game day but everything to do with great flavor. This has been a request from my sister almost weekly, so I’ve made it approximately two times since 2017. It can be a pricier dip, but different cuts of steak can be used. It pairs great with some really good bread.
Red Velvet Cupcakes
We love a good theme, and these fit right in. There’re all sorts of good red velvet cake recipes out there, but I think this is one of the best. I even found you some little picks.
With that being said, I hope you feel like you have a good start towards preparing for the next Alabama game. I’m going to go eat the leftover dip I made even though I complained about it. Let me know if you try any of these!
