    Frank Gore Jr.-Top Rusher in the Sun Belt

    Southern Miss RB Frank Gore, Jr. rushed for 178 yards on 32 carries and two touchdowns in a 29-27 3 OT loss to Liberty. In addition, he also played QB against the Flames on Saturday. He completed 1 of 4 passes for 48 yards and no TDs in the “Super” Back offense.

    As a result of his rushing efforts against Liberty, Gore is the leading rusher in the Sun Belt Conference after week one. He was named a preseason All-Sunbelt selection by both Phil Steele and Athlon’s.

    In addition, Gore has also been named to the 2022 Doak Walker Award watchlist.

    Frank Gore, Jr. (2021 Season)

    Gore, Jr. is the swiss army knife of a football player for the Golden Eagles. In 2021, he rushed for 801 yards and two touchdowns. In three games last season, he averaged better than six yards per rush. And he posted two games of over 100-yards rushing:

    • 21 carries for 162 yards, and a touchdown (51-yards) in a 37-0 win over Grambling.
    • 20 carries for 123 yards and 1 TD in a 27-17 loss to eventual C-USA champion UTSA.

    Gore recorded three games of 20+ carries last season.

    In addition, he also played quarterback in the “Super” Back offense set, throwing four TD passes in the final two games of the season against La. Tech and FIU.

    2020 Season-Gore’s Freshman Year

    Gore was named 2nd Team All-Sunbelt as a true freshman. He rushed for 708 yards on 121 carries and scored 2 TDs. He averaged six yards or better rushing in four games that season.

    Gore posted three games of 100+yards rushing:

    • 23 carries for 130 yards, and a touchdown in a 41-31 win over North Texas.
    • 13 carries for 103 yards in a 24-13 win over North Alabama.
    • Nine carries for 111 yards and a touchdown in a 45-31 win over FAU.

    Frank Gore, Jr.-3-star Recruit and Son of NFL Star

    The son of NFL star and former Miami Hurricane RB Frank Gore, Frank played quarterback and running back at Killian High School in Miami. He rushed for 1,111 yards and 13 TDs (averaged 9.8 yards per rush). Gore posted five games of 100+yards rushing.

    Gore, Jr. and the Golden Eagles travel to Miami to take on his dad’s former team the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday. Southern Miss is a -26 point underdog to the Canes.
