Former Patriots WR Julian Edelman Has a Shocking Admission about Bill Belichick

Julian Edelman played for the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick for 11 years. He retired following the 2020 season after putting up career numbers of 620 receptions, 6,822 yards, and 36 touchdowns. Even though he was been away from the Patriots’ locker room for over a year now, Edelman made a hilarious admission on the I AM ATHLETE podcast: he is still afraid of Bill Belichick.

What Julian Edelman Said about Coach Belichick

Julian Edelman may be done playing football, but he is still scared of his old head coach

Julian Edelman is known for his hilarious impression of Bill Belichick. Everyone really gets a kick out of it. Everyone, that is, except Bill Belichick. Edelman told the podcast about a recent exchange he had with Coach:

“He was like, ‘Look, if I have to turn on the f—— TV and see you doing me every f—— day, like, what are we f—— doing here?’ That’s what he would say to me and I’m sitting on egg shells—I’m still scared of the guy.”

This was not the first time that Edelman expressed fear of his former coach. After retiring, Edelman became an analyst with “Inside the NFL.” When preparing for his role, he feared that his former coach may not like everything that he had to say about the Patriots. Belichick told him to talk about New England in any way that he saw fit. To get his point across, Belichick called Edelman’s co-workers at the studio to tell them that.

A few days after that occurred, Edelman appeared on the Manning-Cast as a fourth quarter guest. While talking to Peyton and Eli, he said the following about the phone call:

“Bill doesn’t call anyone for anything. I’m like, ‘Oh cr*p. I may have went too far with this Belichick thing. He’s going to rip me one.’ You still get scared of this guy even though I’m not playing for him. He still has an intimidation factor. I still have nightmares about him.”

He also addressed former tight end Martellus Bennett calling Jimmy Garoppolo a B****

Jimmy Garoppolo did not make many friends in the Patriots locker room when he missed time with a minor injury. Meanwhile, Jacoby Brissett couldn’t move the thumb on his throwing hand and played his heart out. Martellus Bennett, who has had his own share of controversial injuries, recently called Jimmy Garoppolo a b**** for allowing Brissett to play when he (Jimmy G) was not in as bad of shape.

When asked about Bennett’s comments about the former Patriots quarterback, Edelman said that he “understands.”

Julian Edelman was asked about former #Patriots TE Martellus Bennett calling ex-Pats QB Jimmy Garoppolo a "Bitch" and that "You can't win with a bitch for a quarterback."

Edelman concludes: "I can understand why Marty thinks like that." pic.twitter.com/s2LMHq4dD3
