Sunday Night Football brought out one of the craziest games of the year between the Detroit Lions and Houston Texans, and a lot of that had to do with Lions signal-caller Jared Goff, who couldn’t throw the ball to his own team.
Goff has been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL this season and was one of the favorites heading into Sunday’s game for league MVP. Still, a five-interception performance against the Texans led one former NFL quarterback to knock Goff’s chance at winning the award.
Did Jared Goff’s MVP Hope Get Put To Sleep Sunday Night?
Seven-year NFL veteran Robert Griffin III took to social media during the Lions game and stated, “Jared Goff single-handedly ended his MVP race tonight after throwing 5 ints.”

Griffin made his opinion clear too soon because even though Goff threw five interceptions, he still brought the team back late in the game to pull off the victory. The former NFL quarterback took to social media to give his take on the Lions’ win.
“Won the game. Lost the MVP. But I’m sure Jared Goff will be okay with a Super Bowl ring. For him to make that many mistakes and they still win the game means the Detroit Lions have everything they need to win the Super Bowl. TOTAL TEAM in all phases.”

Even though Griffin thinks Goff’s MVP chances died on Sunday night, there is still a lot of the season left. If the Lions end up going 16-1 and looking like the best team in the NFL, there is a great chance it will be because of Goff, and that could put him back in the MVP race.
