The Florida State Seminoles needed a win in the most desperate of ways, and then received one after being made fun on social media.
The Cal Golden Bears entered the clash against the Seminoles full of confidence, and so did the fans as they flooded social media with jokes and messages.

Among the messages posted was one that initially seemed to calm the wild ways of the Golden Bears fans online. However, it quickly turned into another joke towards the Seminoles football team amid arguably their ugliest losing streak.
The message stated that the Florida State Seminoles have been ‘…in the midst of a ten month peaceful protest against playing football.’ The Seminoles had an ugly and record-breaking loss to Georgia to end last season before kicking off 2024 with an ugly three-game losing streak. Transfer quarterback DJ Uiagalelei in particular has faced the brunt of the attacks due to his poor performance this season for the Seminoles.
Despite the comments from opposing fans and reporters, the Florida State football team was still able to pull off a 14-9 win.
The Seminoles had 177-yards through the air as well as a touchdown, and managed to record 107-yards on the ground. The Golden Bears had two missed field goals and a turnover on downs that led to the loss, despite having opportunities to win the game. UCLA fans were rather silent after the game as the transition over the the ACC has delivered a punch in the first conference game.
Florida State Seminoles Get the Last Laugh After Defeating Cal Golden Bears
While the Golden Bears may have felt like they would have an easy game against the 0-3 Seminoles, Florida State proved ACC football is different.
Cal previously pulled off a 21-14 win over an abysmal Auburn tigers squad, but then faced arguably one of the toughest games on the schedule. Outside of the Seminoles, the Golden Bears have a game this coming week against #7 Miami which will be the toughest game on the schedule for the team.
For the Florida State staff, the win over Cal puts the program back onto the right track, somewhat. The defense looked excellent against Cal and certainly showed improved tackling. On offense, however, Uiagalelei once again seemed to struggle and threw an interception.
The Seminoles staff has likely thought about a quarterback change during the 0-3 start, but will not pull the trigger until another loss occurs. Even then, the Seminoles staff may not bench Uiagalelei due to the time and resources they spent landing the transfer.
