The Florida State Seminoles and head coach Mike Norvell are off to a rough start in 2024, starting 0-2 after an undefeated 2023 season.
The Seminoles lost to two teams in games that had them as double-digit favorites. Both of the games were in front of a national audience. The first game was a week-zero game and the second game took place on a Monday, placing national eyes on the questionable Florida State situation.
Florida State Seminoles practice video caused concern
Following their second straight loss to start the 2024 season, a practice video surfaced showing a coach spraying a player with a water gun.
The player in question was in the process of practicing catching punts and the water gun is meant to provide a simulated distraction to ensure that the returner manages to hold on to the ball no matter what is going on around him in a game.
Regardless, fans attacked the Seminoles and their coaching staff upon seeing the video. There is a cropped version of the same video that makes it hard to tell what is going on and just makes it look like the coach and player are messing around and having a water gunfight.

Fans attacked the Florida State Seminoles and head coach Mike Norvell after seeing the practice video
As tension grows among Flordia State fans, many of them called for the firing of head coach Mike Norvell and the rest of the coaching staff upon seeing the practice video featuring a water gun.
This is despite the fact that Norvell and his staff were praised when a similar video came out years ago. The altered narrative surrounding Norvell and his staff has resulted in a changed perspective on the use of water guns in practice.

Still, many fans are calling for Norvell and company to be fired, comparing him to much-maligned former Seminoles head coach Willie Taggart.
Water gun fights are an instrumental part of weekly preperation. 😂

If this is before the start of the season it’s a tough look but not too crazy. If this is recent it’s completely unacceptable.

Willie taggart type s**t 😂😂😂
