Many fans were surprised when Florida decided to fire former head coach Dan Mullen at the end of 2021.
Mullen just finished his fourth season in the Swamp and was 5-6, but the three years before, he had a winning record in all three seasons and won double-digit games in 2018 and 2019.
In 2020, in a shortened Covid season, Mullen had the Gators with a record of 8-4 and in the SEC title game where they fell to Alabama.
Even though the 2021 season didn’t go well, many didn’t think Mullen would lose his job. He got fired, and the Gators turned toward Louisiana head coach Billy Napier.
Since Napier took the Gator’s head coaching job in 2022, he has never finished above .500 in two seasons and lost the home opener to Miami 41-17 on Saturday.
Florida fans took to social media to call for Napier’s job after the embarrassing loss to Miami, and Mullen is also having a good laugh at his former team.
Dan Mullen Is Having Fun With Florida
Dan Mullen is now a college football analyst on ESPN, and on Saturday, he retweeted a tweet from one of his coworkers, Matt Barrie, that stated,’ The Florida coach that got fired went to three consecutive New Year six games in his first three years. And was let go in his 4th season.”

It’s safe to say that Mullen is still very upset that he lost his job at the end of 2021, and the program hasn’t been the same since he was let go.
Florida has fallen on hard times since Mullen was let go three years ago, and it’s not getting any better under Napier, and it’s only going to get worse from here.
The Gators have the hardest schedule in college football this season and losing to Miami wasn’t a great start.
There is a chance Florida will not make a bowl game again this season, and Napier will be looking for a new job when they could’ve kept Mullen, who was having success three years ago.
Gainesville is a mess right now, and it doesn’t look like it will get better anytime soon.
