Florida Gators quarterback Graham Mertz is out for the season after he tore his ACL on Saturday against the Tennessee Volunteers. It is also possible that this is the end of Mertz’s college football career.
This season, he completed 76.6% of his passes for 791 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions. Graham Mertz also used to play for the Wisconsin Badgers.
Florida Gators Fans React To Graham Mertz’s Post On Twitter
On Twitter, Mertz sent a tweet thanking everyone from Gator Nation for the love and support for the last two seasons in Gainsville, Florida. Here is what the fans had to say when he released that statement:
Prayers to you and a speedy recovery ❤️🖤

There have been times this season when the Florida Gators fanbase has criticized Graham Mertz for his poor play, but this was the appropriate time to wish him well. Mertz started in some games this season for Florida.
DJ Lagway Starts For the Rest Of the Season
Freshman quarterback D.J. Lagway will be the starting quarterback for Florida for the remainder of the season after the Graham Mertz injury. Lagway has shown some flashes of stardom this season and it will be interesting to see how it goes for him.
He has completed 65.3% of his passes for 765 yards, five touchdowns, and four interceptions. Lagway has also rushed for 50 yards on 24 carries and zero touchdowns, along with averaging 2.1 yards per carry. The Florida Gators will host the Kentucky Wildcats this weekend.
D.J. Lagway could have a chance to also save head coach Billy Napier’s job this season. Even if Lagway were to play well, they may move off of Napier next season but that’s not the story here. It is a shame that Mertz’s career had to end with a torn ACL.
