The Florida A&M Rattlers (2-2) of the SWAC East Division hosted the Alabama A&M Bulldogs (0-4) of the SWAC East Division.
The Rattlers got their first win of the season against the Albany State Rams of the SIAC in Division II. They are currently 3rd in the SWAC East Division.
The Bulldogs had a tough loss against the Austin Peay Governors of the Ohio Valley Conference. They are currently 5th in the SWAC East Division.
The 2021 edition was won by the Rattlers 35-31. The Rattlers had a furious 4th quarter comeback scoring 19 pts to edge the Bulldogs
RATTLERS RECAP
The Bulldogs opened the scoring with a quick 10-points in the first quarter. RB Terrell Jennings ran in a touchdown from one-yard away to put the Rattlers on the board. The Bulldogs tacked on a safety and a touchdown. QB Jeremy Moussa threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to WR Xavier Smith to bring the halftime score to 19-14.
The third quarter scoring opened with the familiar connection of QB Jeremy Moussa to WR Xavier Smith from 10-yards away. RB Jaylen McCloud tacked on a six-yard touchdown run for a 28-19 lead heading into the fourth quarter. K Jose Martinez-Romo extended the lead with a field goal from 13-yards away and for the third time QB Jeremy Moussa found WR Xavier Smith this time from a yard out. The Bulldogs made it closer with a late touchdown to bring the score to 38-25.
WR Jah’Marae Sheread had a great game with 138 yards receiving
RATTLERS DEFENSE
The Rattlers defense is led by LB Isaiah Major with 14 total tackles. DB Eric Smith is second with seven tackles and third is LB Javan Morgan with five and an interception. CB Kamari Stephens had two tackles a sack and a forced fumble. LB Isaiah Land and DL Gentle Hunt helped with three tackles and a sack each. DL Stanley Mentor had two tackles and a sack and LB Nadarius Fagan had a tackle and a pick as well
It has been a rocky start to begin the season with some administrative issues, but this team is tough and bounced back with two great wins to even their record.
