The San Francisco 49ers and Jimmy Garoppolo need to work together on a trade before their first game on September 11th, in Chicago, Illinois, at Solider Fielder when they take on the Chicago Bears. There has been a lot of speculation about which teams around the NFL should trade for Garoppolo. There are interesting odds in Las Vegas, from betonline.com, about where Garoppolo will end up this year. Here are the five teams around the NFL that need to trade for Jimmy Garoppolo.
New York Giants
Daniel Jones has been far from successful in New York. They brought in Tyrod Taylor to back him up this off-season. It makes sense to have Garoppolo join the organization to bridge the gap until they get their franchise quarterback. The Giants need a significant culture change to become competitive in the NFL. They should look to what Garoppolo did with the 49ers and bring him into the organization. The Giants have many issues, but their main point is at the quarterback position, and Garoppolo would solve many problems.
Detroit Lions
Detroit, like Houston, is another team in the rebuild process. If they are looking to establish a winning culture, they should look to trade for Garoppolo. Former number overall pick Jared Goff is their starting QB. Trading Jimmy to compete with Goff would make the lions a better team. It would be a perfect fit because Detroit needs a veteran QB to lead their team. Garoppolo would be a smart move for the lions. Because Garoppolo is a proven winner and veteran quarterback, the Lions would be a better and more competitive team this upcoming season and in the future.
Seattle Seahawks
The 49ers’ division rival traded Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos for a haul of draft picks this offseason. They paid DK Metcalf a massive contract, three years for 72 million with 58.2 million guaranteed, and seem to be rebuilding phase. They have Drew Locke and Geno Smith competing for the starting job in Seattle. If Seattle would trade for Garoppolo, he would instantly get the starting QB job and make Seattle a better team the first day he walks into the locker room.
Houston Texans
If the Texans are looking to establish a winning culture, they should look into acquiring Garoppolo. Competition brings the best out of an athlete. Davis Mills is their starting quarterback, but bringing in Garoppolo to compete with Mills would make the Texans a better team. It would be a perfect fit because Houston needs a veteran QB to lead their team, and Garoppolo is looking for his next job to prove he can be helpful to an organization.
Cleveland Browns
Despite Watson dealing with off-the-field issues, the Browns traded for quarterback Deshaun Watson in the off-season. He’s suspended six games for the 2022 season, but the NFL is now appealing the six-game suspension for Watson. His suspension could potentially be a year long. They traded the former number one overall pick Baker Mayfield to the Carolina Panthers and signed Jacoby Bressett as the backup to Watson as insurance if Watson’s suspension is longer. Garoppolo would be a good fit for Cleveland if the NFL and Brissett further discipline Watson is not producing up to their standards.
