Roger Goodell has been the NFL commissioner since 2006. He plays a key role in choosing Super Bowl halftime performers. His aim is to select artists who can bring people together and help the league grow worldwide. But many of his decisions have led to big debates among fans and others.
In September 2025, Goodell selected Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny to headline the Super Bowl LX halftime show on February 8, 2026. Bad Bunny was the first solo Latin artist to headline and the first to sing mostly in Spanish.

Goodell called him “one of the greatest artists in the world” and said the show would unite fans through fun and creativity. The performance set a record with 135.4 million viewers on NBC, the highest ever for a halftime event.
Still, before the game, some people criticised the choice. President Donald Trump said it was “terrible” and spread hate. Goodell stood by his decision, explaining that every artist gets some negative talk, and Bad Bunny knew how to use the stage well.
This is not new for Goodell. In the past, his choices often caused similar issues. For example, Beyoncé’s 2016 show had themes about Black Lives Matter, leading to calls for police boycotts. The 2020 performance by Shakira and J.Lo was seen as too bold by some, with complaints about cultural mixing.
In 2022, the hip-hop show with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg faced questions over references to gang life. Even earlier events, like M.I.A.’s gesture in 2012 and Janet Jackson’s mishap in 2004, added to the pattern. Goodell has said he expects such reactions because the NFL wants to balance old fans with new ones.
Fans are unhappy with Roger Goodell’s selection of Bad Bunny
The Bad Bunny choice brought out strong feelings from some NFL followers. Many shared their views online, calling for changes in leadership.
One fan said, “He needed to be fired 10 or 15 years ago, he’s always been a joke.”
A second fan wrote, “The owners need to fire him. How long does he throw it in their faces before they realize @nflcommish doesn’t care about your family values.”
A third fan stated, “I’ve been done with the NFL for years. Not another game will be watched on any device in any of my homes. Done. The kneeling thing was unforgivable. This is disgusting.”
A fourth fan demanded, “Fire Goodell… Fire JayZ from halftime show.”
A fifth fan declared, “Fire Goodell, that woke ass sellout!”
These comments show how Goodell’s picks can split the NFL community. While the league grows with global stars, some fans feel left behind. Goodell’s way of handling this will shape the future of America’s top sports event.

Fire and fine him big time.
None of your business
Just a bunch of racist who only want to see white artists. They will complain until they get a white artist and they don’t have to be American, just be white. Total joke.
