The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the NFC South division once again in the 2024 NFL season. Tampa Bay was led once again by quarterback Baker Mayfield.
After Mayfield left the Cleveland Browns, he has done better for himself. Mayfield has provided stability for the Buccaneers at the quarterback position after Tom Brady retired. During the 2024 NFL season, Mayfield completed 71.4% of his passes for 4,500 yards, 41 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. Where did the 30-year-old quarterback rank amongst the top quarterbacks in the league entering the 2025 NFL season?
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Quarterback Baker Mayfield Receives Praise From Across the NFL Despite Just Cracking Top 10 Ranking
Many different NFL executives, coaches, and scouts talked to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com about who are the Top 10 quarterbacks are in the NFL entering the 2025 NFL season. They have Mayfield listed as number 10. This is despite him being ranked third in the NFL in passing yards and being tied for second in passing touchdowns in the NFL with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Mayfield should have been maybe ranked a little higher on this list. However, with that being said, one NFL personnel evaluator said about the Buccaneers starting quarterback,
“Fearless as a thrower and a runner. He’s got on-field leadership where teammates want to support him. Much better arm than given credit for. Good mover in the pocket and can rush for yards. Attacks the third level of the defense. When he’s got time [in the pocket], he’s as good as almost anybody right now.”
Mayfield is one of the most fearless quarterbacks in the NFL. He will do anything for his team to win games. They finished with a 10-7 record in the 2024 NFL season and won the NFC South division once again. Tampa Bay will be favored to win the division once again in 2025.
The Buccaneers will have one of the most stacked offenses in the NFL in 2025. Mayfield will have Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan, and rookie wide receiver Emeka Egbuka to throw too. Cade Otton will be the starting tight end, and Bucky Irving will be the starting running back. The Tristan Wirfs injury will be something to watch on the offensive line to start the year.
Tampa Bay lost to Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders in the playoffs in the first-round last year. The Buccaneers could be a team that could make some noise with Mayfield in the playoffs in 2025. If he is healthy once again, Tampa Bay should be scoring a bunch of points during the 2025 NFL season.
