It is about that time in the week where you need to lock in who is going to be in your fantasy football lineups going into this weekend’s slate of games in the NFL. Whether you are trying to pick up your first win of the season or continuing your undefeated season it is important to put in the players that will get you the maximum number of points. First, here are the players you should start heading into week three:
Quarterback Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
Burrow’s start to the 2022 season hasn’t been what he had scripted, especially after coming a stellar 2021 season that led Cincinatti to the Super Bowl. Even with the additions in the offseason to upgrade the offensive line it has been an unit that has struggled in the first two weeks. Burrow has only scored 19.4 total fantasy points through the first two weeks of the season.
The third-year quarterback completed just 24 of his 36 passes for 199 yards and a touchdown in the 20-17 loss to Dallas in week two. Burrow and the Bengals have a favorable matchup in week three as they will hit the road to take on the New York Jets.
The struggles of the offensive line will hope to improve Burrow’s fantasy impact. The good news for fantasy owners that have Burrow on their roster is that the Jets have only recorded three sacks through the first two games of the season. This is the game for Burrow to get back on track and put up some good numbers against a Jets defense that ranks 25th overall in the NFL.
Running Back David Montgomery, Chicago Bears
Montgomery got off to a shaky start in week one against the San Francisco 49ers. Mother nature played a factor in how that game would shape out to be. The 25-year old picked up steam in Sunday night’s matchup against Green Bay.
He had 15 carries for 122 yards on the ground against the Packers. Montgomery would add two catches out of the backfield for 14 yards. The star Chicago running back looks to be the No. 1 back as he got 15 carries. Meanwhile, Khalil Herbert only got four carries in the Bears 27-10 loss vs. the Packers.
Montgomery will have a lot of upside heading into week three as the Bears will host the Houston Texans. Houston’s defense gave up 165 yards rushing to the Colts in week one. They gave up 122 yards rushing against the Broncos in week two. The Texans have given up the most rushing yards to running backs this season. Montgomery is a must play in week three against a vulnerable Texans rush defense.
Wide Receiver Drake London, Atlanta Falcons
The rookie out of USC has already made his presence known in Atlanta’s offense through the first two weeks of the season. In week one against the New Orleans Saints, London had five receptions for 74 yards. London scored his first touchdown in his rookie season against the Los Angeles Rams in week two.
The 21-year old wide reciever posted eight receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown against a solid Rams secondary. London has quickly become Marcus Mariota’s favorite target in the Falcons offense. He leads the team in targets (19) through the first two weeks of the season.
The Falcons will head to Seattle to take on the Seahawks. The Falcons will be looking to pick up their first win on the season. London will get a favorable matchup as the Seahawks are ranked 24th overall in pass defense. Get the Falcons rookie pass catcher in your lineups this week.
Tight End Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Chargers
Everett has put up two solid games so far in his first year with the Los Angeles Chargers. The 28-year old tight end had three receptions for 54 yards and touchdown in the Chargers 24-19 win against the Raiders in week one.
Everett continued that momentum and took advantage of Keenan Allen being absent in week two against the Chiefs. He posted six receptions for 71 yards. Everett was targeted 10 times in the Chargers 27-24 loss to the Chiefs in Kansas City.
The veteran tight ends remains a viable option heading into the Chargers week three matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Everett will remain a popular streaming option heading into a favorable matchup this weekend. He will be going up against a Jaguars defense that is suspect against the pass.
