The longtime veteran in Julio Jones signed a 1-year $6 million deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this week. Julio Joins a high-powered offense with a crowded receiver room with Mike Evans, Russell Gage, and a soon to return Chris Godwin. The fact that Tom Brady has unretired to join the Bucs for another go may help the Julio truthers. There are early reports to show that Brady and Jones have connected in the endzone and are establishing an early rapport in training camp.
The History of Julio Jones
Since being traded out of Atlanta Julio has had a much more difficult time establishing himself as an elite option. Needless to say, Jones finished overall as the WR 93 across all formats to end the 2022 season. He was riddled with injuries that left him in and out of the lineup constantly. He finished the year with 31 catches for 434 yards and only 1 touchdown. With Julio now 33 years of age how well can he contribute to a once again stellar Tampa Bay offense.
Hot Take on Julio’s 2022 season
With the number of mouths to feed in Tampa Bay, it’s difficult to be high on Julio this year. While he may have some outstanding games this season, he will be limited based on the other weapons around him. I see him as another redzone threat along with Mike Evans. The departure of Rob Gronkowski leaves some vacated targets, but not too much in terms of great outlook for Julio’s fantasy value. Due to those facts and circumstances, I would not draft Julio unless I can get him with my very last pick of my draft.
