It is often said that nobody wins their fantasy football championship at the draft, which is why you must buy and sell constantly, including week four! Veteran players understand that one must not become complacent at any point during the season, regardless of record. Working the waiver wire, selling players at top value, and buying low are the things that separate the good from the elite. Here are some players that I am actively trying to buy and sell in week four.
BUY
JOE MIXON
It has become easy to forget just how good Joe Mixon can be for fantasy football. Mixon finished 2021 on a hot streak and was primed for another big role in 2022. The Bengal’s offensive line has struggled through three games and has allowed Joe Burrow to be the most sacked quarterback in the league. Mixon has been held in check on the ground averaging 2.8 yards per carry. The good news is that he has received 20 targets through three games and still plays on one of the most electrifying offenses in the league. He has handled over 80% of the running back opportunities and is primed for a blow-up game. Get him while you can.
TREYLON BURKS
Treylon Burks was drafted to be the alpha wide receiver and heir-apparent to A.J. Brown in Tennessee. After a rough camp, Burks has seen his opportunities increase each week. His fantasy points on the other hand have declined each week. Now is the time to acquire him on the cheap. It may take time to develop a rapport with Ryan Tannehill but I expect the Titans to find out what they have in the rookie as the season progresses. Buy him while you still can. He is a potential league winner and could even be a free pickup this week.
ROBERT TONYAN
Trying to decide which pass-catcher to play on the Green Bay Packers is stressful. Trying to find a tight end on waivers with any upside is more stressful. Because tight end targets are hard to find, buy Robert Tonyan. Tonyan has seen an increase in snaps each week and as a result has been targeted on 30% of his routes. With options limited for Aaron Rodgers, he will be looking to Tonyan. The Packers play the Patriots this week and they gave up two touchdowns to Ravens tight end Mark Andrews.
SELL
JAMES ROBINSON
This may be a tough sell as Robinson is currently the RB3 in PPR scoring. I must remind you that some stats are more volatile than others. Touchdowns are one of them. Robinson has four touchdowns on the season thanks to some generous matchups and game scripts. Because touchdowns are often difficult to predict, I want to sell high. The Jaguars spent high draft capital to acquire Travis Etienne and he has seen his carries increase each week. He has also been more effective as a receiver but is yet to find the end zone. As a result of Robinson’s efficiency, this will become a timeshare and with more difficult matchups looming, In conclusion, I am looking to cash in on this hot start.
DJ MOORE
This one hurts. DJ Moore is a fine NFL wide receiver, but he is simply held back by quarterback play. The Panthers are committed to Baker Mayfield and Moore has only been targeted 18 times. Secondly, they have matchups against strong secondaries coming up and I am trying to sell him on name value. Moore has had three consecutive 1000-yard seasons and I believe you can sell him with that.
GERALD EVERETT
Things were looking good for Everett. He has the athletic profile of a breakout tight end an because of this, you may find a suitor. He was heavily involved in an offense that was going to score plenty. Because Justin Herbert is dealing with a rib issue that could linger. Look to sell Everett while you can. off on the promise of what he did in weeks one and two. The tight-end landscape is so barren that you may be surprised by what you can get.
Do Not Underestimate DeVonta Smith
I want to hear from you!
Who else are you buying? Who are you selling? Leave a comment and share your tips with us! We promise not to tell your league mates. Good luck this week. @CoachSparkman36
