Boom
Rhamondre Stevenson, New England: Most fantasy football veterans saw this one coming at the end of last season. He makes my Boom-Bust as the Boom.
Stevenson finished with more rushes (78 to 66) and more yards (396 to 309) in his last six games playing along side of Damien Harris in 2021, . Harris had one advantage, scoring touchdowns (6 to 4).
Plus, camp speculation has Stevenson taking over the third-down passing game role. The retirement of James White and the departure of Brandon Bolden allowed this opening.
Stevenson currently sits at No. 35 in the FantasyPros ERC while Harris, who was high as No. 26 this weekend, fell to No. 31.
Stevenson’s upside continues to grow!
Bust
James Conner, Arizona: Conner has never played a complete season in his five-year career.
He played in a career-high 15 games in 2021 and finished with the most touches he’s recorded since his breakout in 2018. He only played in 10 games in his injury-marred 2019 season.
I think Eno Benjamin and Darrel Williams will be called into action more than the Cardinals’ coaches would like this season.
Conner’s injury history stops him from having another big season.
Sleeper
Isiah Pacheco, Kansas City: The seventh-round draft pick has impressed coaches and his fellow teammates during training camp. He has the inside track to RB2 behind Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
Pacheco checks in at 5-foot-10 and 216 pounds and brings an added feature with his speed (4.37 40).
He reminds the coaches of Kareem Hunt. I believe he’s more in the Terrell Davis mold. Davis’ knack of hitting the holes quickly, getting small through the hole and then busting out with acceleration are traits I’ve seen in Pacheco’s college tape.
CEH has struggled to maintain the Chiefs’ coveted No. 1 running back spot in his two years. Any early season boom plays from Pacheco will push CEH out the door.
I’ll take the future KC No. 1 RB, who is being drafted as the 74th running back, according to FantasyPros ECR.
