Boom
Lamar Jackson, Baltimore: Yes, I know Jackson is a proven commodity. But coming off an injury, there are some question marks. However, Jackson is my Boom QB in my Boom-Bust series.
Well, those questions marks will be answer as Jackson returns to top 3 QB status this season.
The Ravens enter the season with the 8th easiest schedule this season and a healthy group of running mates will help Jackson to deliver.
Wide receiver Rashod Bateman and tight ends Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likley give Jackson a steady receiving corps. Running back J.K. Dobbins is finally practicing, rounding the Ravens’ offense into shape.
Bust
Matthew Stafford, LA Rams: Early season elbow ailments are never a good thing for a starting QB in the NFL.
Add in the fact the defending Super Bowl champions are facing the toughest schedule this season. And the fourth best defenses vs. fantasy scoring for QBs. And Stafford has played hurt in the past.
The Rams open the season at home vs. Buffalo on Sept. 8. Then they face Arizona in Week 3, San Francisco in Week 4 and Dallas in Week 5.
A fast start for the Super Champion QB may not be in the cards.
Sleeper
Trey Lance, San Francisco: I currently have Lance as the 14th best scoring QB in fantasy this season, and I have a feeling I may be too low.
The 49ers offense has been one of the most consistent groups in the league, and if Lance can grow as a passer with a solid group of pass catches led by Deebo Samuel, George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk and can continue to be threat with his legs – look out!
Lance averaged 253 yards a game in the three games he saw significant playing time last season. He now has a full offseason as the starter under his belt, which should play dividends to his fantasy managers.
