“You’re an Idiot”: Fans Troll Lane Kiffin for Calling LSU “Best Job in Football” Post Controversial Move

Lane Kiffin just pulled off one of the most controversial moves in college football as he ditched Ole Miss, which was on a triumphant 11-1 run in 2025 and had the potential of winning a national championship this year.

As Kiffin arrives in Louisiana and meets the media for the first time as the LSU head coach, Kiffin said he was honored to be in the position and stated that he believes the place is unique and that it is the best job in football.

Kiffin further said that he is thankful for the opportunity to leave one of the elite programs in the country and that the decision to leave was an extremely difficult one, and while the 6 years he spent there would always be special, the opportunity was just different.

Reiterating his statement on LSU being the best job in football, he applauded the program’s culture, history, and other aspects, which drew some reactions from the fans.

“I’m going to laugh so hard when: A) Kiffin is fired within 3 seasons if he doesn’t win a natty or at least has 12+ win seasons B) Kiffin wins a Natty and swoops into the Bama job when Deboer is fired in a season or two. LSU don’t think for a second Lane cares about you.” one fan commented.

“You’re an idiot.Brian Kelly will never be able to coach again.he had to fight for his last paycheck.. lsu football is the only thing Louisiana has & they will threaten everyone you know if you don’t win…. It’s quite literally the worse coaching job in America.” another fan shared blunt thoughts.

“This sounds like a 5th grader reading his persuasive essay on why dogs are better than cats.” another fan took a shot.

Didn’t he say the same thing about USC?.” another fan recalled.

“I can think of at least 5 better programs that make this statement more of the usual Kiffin Train BS. LSU isn’t even in the top 10 of total national championships won but Alabama, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Michigan and Norte Dame are.” another fan added.

“The best job in football until you lose 3 games then they run you out of town. Maybe he just wants that Jimbo Fisher special.” another fan wrote.

Paul Finebaum Lashes Out at Lane Kiffin Over His Remarks During First LSU Press Conference

During his analysis on the Get Up show, Paul Finebaum expressed his frustration with Lane Kiffin as he opened up about watching a clip of Kiffin and said that it’s the exact reason why people despise him.

Finebaum called Kiffin’s statement one of the “most disingenuous comments” he’s ever heard when he said that he doesn’t know what he’s making at LSU and that all he cares about is the players.

“ Lane Kiffin, with a straight face, saying, ‘I don’t know what I’m making. All I care about is the player.’ Everyone knows what he was making. He could get $12 million from Ole Miss, $12 million from Florida, or $12 million from LSU.”

Finebaum sent a message to Kiffin and said that while he was able to con his friends around college football who were speaking out for him, it doesn’t work in the real world, calling the statement “pathetic.”
Kiffin has reportedly signed a nearly $100 million deal for 7 years with a promise of investing generously in NIL and more.
