In a recent viral episode of Mightycast, MMA sparked debate by tagging UFC as an aggressively right-wing sport. But a fan comment twisted it to the NFL, saying,
“The NFL was pushing the left-wing BS the past few years till Trump won and people got tired of BLM and BM so it’s a lie.” That seems to be the true statement.

NFL Stands Alone: League Remains Vocal on Social Justice as UFC Stays Out of Politics

So, it started in 2016 when Colin Kaepernick kneeled during the national anthem, creating a lot of stir. Many players supported the protest, and the league got the headlines every week. When 2020 came, the NFL supported social justice and believed in ending racism. Following George Floyd’s murder, the NFL launched the “Black Lives Matter and Inspire Changes” program, pouring millions into community programs.
A 2022 report even suggested that approximately 45% of the Republicans who disapproved of the NFL’s current stance on social justice felt it was too much to show respect to Black players.
In the case of the UFC, Dana White has supported Trump. But it was personal politics, not any league-wide protest or campaign. Only a few UFC players, like Jeff Monson, are vocal about left-wing issues. However, unlike the NFL, the UFC was never involved in a full-fledged league-wide protest.
Many fans point to their twisted stance on the video:
A fan said, “Typically Luke Thomas makes MMA about politics.”
Others said, “I never hear about politics with the UFC; it only seems right-wing because Trump supports it.”
Many stated, “Every other major league is left wing. Who cares.”
Others claimed, “Luke Thomas is basically if a soy model of an MMA Journalist came to life.”
Fan remarked, “Fighting is inherently right wing.”
Whatever the case, the NFL continues to be the sole supporter of social justice. They never shy away from voicing their opinions and creating an impact on society.
