“He’s Not the Victim”: Fans Side-Eye David Pollack for Defending Lane Kiffin for Jumping Ship From Ole Miss to LSU

As Lane Kiffin makes the difficult decision to leave Ole Miss after spending 6 years with the program to replace Brian Kelly at LSU, many analysts and fans can’t help but feel bad for Kiffin, as he will now not be able to lead the Rebels for the Playoffs despite their thrilling 11-1 run this year.

Analysts like Nick Saban and David Pollack shared their views on the fiasco and called out the NCAA for not having fair rules, and asked the organisation to fix their schedule, as the ones that end up suffering are the players.

Pollack took to X to make a statement about how Lane Kiffin isn’t the enemy in this situation and the calendar in college football is, calling it an “absolute joke.”

He further demanded that the NCAA fix “this crap,” as the teams have  to deal with Playoffs, National Signing Day, Transfer Portal, all within the same month time period, and said that it’s “straight stupid.”

Pollack’s views didn’t sit well with the fans:

“Lane Kiffin is absolutely the enemy here. I don’t blame him for leaving, but he’s not the victim” one fan commented.

I know you are represented by CAA like Kiffin, but I am so surprised and disappointed to see you repeating the CAA talking points. So you would be fine w Kirby sticking around to coach UGA even after he announced he was going to Bama or Fl & planning to take coaches and players?.” another fan shared their thoughts.

“The NCAA does need to do better but that doesn’t mean Kiffin and those who sell out the kids they lead are blameless. I used to wonder why team players have all but disappeared from the NFL. Guys like Kiffin explain why.” another fan pointed out.

“I always liked you…but didn’t ESPN fire you? Why are you still carrying water for that syndicate? He left his team. He’s not bigger than the sport. The calendar applies to him too. His former team hates him.” another fan questioned.

“Its not that he left, its how he left. Instead of stringing everyone along, he could have been an adult and made a decision. One thing has become apparent in this whole fiasco, Lane only cares about Lane.” another fan added.
“No. Lane is the enemy. Used to see you hanging out at the Tate Center waiting on the bus in your track suit, (0’4 alumn here too) David. Lane absolutely f’d this up too.” another fan said.
Lane Kiffin stunned the fans over his decision to leave Ole Miss for LSU as many fans and analysts believed he wouldn’t leave the team in the middle of one of the best years they’ve had in years and are on their way to possibly win a national championship.
Talking about how he came to his decision, Kiffin said that it was a really difficult decision as Oxford has been a really special place for him in the last 6 years.
He added that while his heart was at Oxford, a few conversations with his mentors like Coach Carroll and Coach Saban helped him make up hid mind about the LSU move.
Kiffin shared that Coach Carroll said his dad, Monte Kiffin, would’ve told him to take the shot and go lead the Tigers.
“Even though it was exciting, but I think we gave a lot to this program and to this city, and some of the most historic wins in this stadium they’ve ever had and best regular season in the history of the school, so I feel proud of that part. But it just became time, you know, talked to God and he told me it’s time to take a new step. It’s a new chapter.”
After taking the reins of the Rebels in 2020, Kiffin ends his tenure with a 55-19 record.
