This is just a testament to the talent that is in the FCS level. Everyone is seeing it now as a FAMU cornerback went viral with a sick interception. Freshman db Zaire Riley is the talk of the college football world after making one of the greatest one handed grabs I’ve seen from most wide receivers.
Zaire Riley, originally from Tallahassee is a freshman at Florida A&M University. But the world already knows who he is before his first game. In a practice being recorded Riley was covering a wide receiver from his team. It almost looked as though he was beat as the receiver cut towards the sidelines getting some separation from Riley. What followed looked like something from a movie. As the quarterback releases the pass, Riley turns on the Jets and closes in on his teammate. Right as he goes flying in front of the receiver he throws one hand above his head and snatches the ball out of the air right in front of the receivers hands. He runs onto the sidelines as his teammates and coaches celebrate with him.
The clip aired on ESPN and has since gained attention from the world. Even superstar basketball player LeBron James gave Riley a social media shout out.
FAMU head coach, Willie Simmons commented that plays like that are the normal from Riley. It’s what made him take notice of him when he was in highschool. Coach Simmons also commented that it shows the talent coming out of the Big Bend and the talent FAMU wants to keep right there at home.
The Rattlers have Wednesday off of practice, but they get back to work on Thursday. I can’t wait for the season to start. Keep your eyes on FAMU football and Zaire Riley this season. I know I will be watching to see this guy and this team show why FCS football is no second place to any other teams in college football.
