This weekend, a former NFL player turned college football coach was involved in a horrible, deadly car accident:

The former NFL player, who currently serves as an assistant coach at South Carolina, was traveling east on a South Carolina road, when a car traveling west came over the median and struck him, head-on. The former NFL player was hospitalized from the crash, while the man driving the other vehicle was killed.

Travian Robertson, 36, played in the NFL from 2012-14. He is currently a defensive line coach at South Carolina.

Robertson reportedly suffered “significant” lower leg injuries.

“Travian Robertson was involved in a car accident this morning. He is currently in the hospital in stable condition,” the school said in a statement. “We expect him to make a full recovery and be back out on the field soon. Please keep the families of those involved in the accident in your prayers and respect the Robertson family’s privacy during this time.”

Prayers are pouring in for him on Sunday.

“Praying for him and his family,” one fan wrote.

    “Awful news,” one fan added.

“Praying for Travian,” another fan added.

“Unfortunate news to say the least,” one fan added.

Official statement from Coach Beamer on Travian Robertson:

“Travian Robertson was involved in a car accident this morning. He is currently in the hospital in stable condition. We expect him to make a full recovery and be back out on the field soon.

Please keep the families of those involved in the accident in your prayers and respect the Robertson family’s privacy during this time.”
