NFL and Dallas Cowboys fans are worried about the future of Ezekiel Elliott after a troubling report surfaced on why the team chose to make him a healthy scratch in Week 9. It appears Elliott’s personal life is spiraling out of control as his performance and the Cowboys season are in the dumps entering November.
The Cowboys signed Elliott to a one-year deal this offseason after losing Tony Pollard to the Tennessee Titans in free agency. Dallas passed on Derrick Henry, choosing to go with a running back by committee. The committee has caused some drama in the locker room, with Elliott wanting more touches in the red zone, while Rico Dowdle has been the lead back.
Ezekiel Elliott has not been good in 2024

Elliott has rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns on 48 carries, averaging 3.1 yards per rush for a 3-4 Cowboys team. Dallas elevated Dalvin Cook from the practice squad for Sunday’s contest against the 5-3 Atlanta Falcons.
As previously discussed on GH, Jane Slater of the NFL Network reported Sunday that Elliott appears to be distracted by his personal life and has not been meeting his obligations to the Cowboys football team during the week.
“According to a number of sources, Elliott has been distracted this season,” Slater posted on X. “Aside from habitual tardiness, he’s missed three team meetings with Friday’s meeting the final straw. Both parties decided it was best he didn’t make the trip to Atlanta. Dalvin Cook and Rico Dowdle will be expected to carry the load this afternoon.”

Dallas Cowboys fans are worried about Elliott

Fans on social media are concerned about Elliott’s future in the league and with the Cowboys after Slater’s report.
“He needs to retire at this point, too old for this job , and he cant do it anymore,” wrote a fan.
“Whatever is going on in Zeke’s life, hopefully he gets it figured out, and he can be the best version of himself,” posted another.
“It’s a shame to see this,” commented a concerned fan. “I was a huge fan of Zeke’s and now it seems he is falling to the wayside physically, as well as mentally. Potentially throwing away the last opportunity of his professional career.”
“He knows he is done,” suggested one poster. “He sees where the season is going. What is there to mentor? Who is the young talent on offense that needs his wisdom? Season is a joke. We are all looking at 2025 and fantasy booking our coaching staff and draft picks!”
“He cant handle that hes washed up already,” posted another.
“I just pray everything is ok with him,” wrote a worried fan. “You never know whats going on in someone’s life or mental health.”
