The national media always criticize Ohio State, and even though they have looked like one of the three best teams in the country so far this season, many have questioned whether they are a great football team.
This past weekend of college football, we witnessed Alabama lose to Vanderbilt, Tennessee get upset by Arkansas, USC lose on the road at Minnesota, Michigan have no fight against Washington, and Missouri get beat up and down the field vs. Texas A&M. Still, Ohio State, which beat Iowa 35-7, was one of the teams with a shaky performance this week.
ESPN Was Not High On Ohio State’s Win
ESPN’s David Hale published an article on Sunday titled College Football Week 6 highlights: Top plays, games, takeaways, and one of the sections was titled Sluggish Day for the top teams and didn’t have nice things to say about the Buckeyes, stating, “No. 3 Ohio State: Had little trouble swatting away Iowa 35-7. Still, it had to feel like a loss for the Buckeyes, who are the first-ranked team to allow points to Iowa’s offense since Michigan surrendered two touchdowns in a win over the Hawkeyes in Week 5 of 2022.”
Clearly, Hale didn’t watch any of the game because Ohio State looked good for most of it. They only had issues turning the ball over in the first half, but they cleaned everything up in the thrid and fourth quarter.
Iowa is a good football team, and beating them by 28 points and only giving up seven points late in the game when the Buckeye’s backups were in is a great win. There is no way the game felt like a loss.
Ohio State must beat every team by 100 points to earn the respect of the national media, and nobody will give them credit for anything they do this season.
Many Ohio State fans took to social media to react to the ESPN article, and here were their thoughts.
Did that person watch the game?

Ridiculous. Iowa had their starters in playing against our 2nd and 3rd team defense when they scored. Lmao

It’s truly absurd!

Seriously? If it would have been 7-0 midway through the 4th quarter, maybe. Scored 21 in 3rd quarter, another in 4th and gave up a garbage one. Never, ever felt like a loss. Not allowed to face a “gauntlet” like the SEC.

It’s always the neg narrative espn writers broadcasters approach to discussing the Buckeyes.
