Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide were in a position where they are not used to, missing the College Football Playoff in 2024 during his first season in Tuscaloosa. Year 2 is going to be a major stepping point for the program to see if they are going to go back to contenders or fall towards the rest of the pack.
While there is a lot of conversations happening around the Alabama football program, one college football analyst placed him on the hot seat. Let’s take a deeper dive into who said that and what 2025 looks like for Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
ESPN Analyst Places Kalen DeBoer on Hot Seat

While appearing on Friday’s episode of “Get Up”, ESPN analyst and former wide receiver Harry Douglas placed Alabama Crimson Tide coach Kalen DeBoer on the hot seat.
“I’m going to Alabama and Kalen DeBoer. And it’s hard when you have to follow a legend. You have to follow a legend like Nick Saban and you don’t make the College Football Playoff in your first year. You don’t play for an SEC Championship. I tell you one thing, fans are not gonna wait. They’re gonna put this pressure on Coach DeBoer. He now has his offensive coordinator, Ryan Grubb, who we had at the University of Washington. Let’s see if things can get better for the Alabama Crimson Tide moving forward in 2025.”
Kalen DeBoer is entering his second season as coach of the Crimson Tide after taking over for the legendary Nick Saban. In 2024, the team finished 9-4 and missed the College Football Playoff after being as high as number one in the AP Poll during the season. It will be interesting to see how he does in his first full offseason and second season with Alabama.
