Tesla CEO and billionaire Elon Musk has stepped down from his role at the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, and analyst Stephen A. Smith thinks this is him enjoying the “best of both worlds.”
In a recent episode of his podcast, Stephen A. Smith talked about the recent move of tech mogul Elon Musk as he officially left the newly-established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). For the analyst, Musk leaving on paper and getting back to focus on his company, but still carrying on with his consultant role, is him having the “best of both worlds.”
“So, all of these things are the kind of things that I’m looking at and I’m saying, ‘okay, we get it. Your company is losing money,’” Smith said. “‘Listen, you really don’t have to be here in the White House talking to me in order to oversee this to some degree, and you’re no longer going to be in an official capacity, but you still have the president’s ear, which means that whatever you think should be done, the president will probably side with you. And you don’t have to answer to Congress, to the Senate, to elected officials, anywhere because you no longer have this job.”
“Seems to me gets the best of both worlds. Goes back to Tesla, raises his stock. He’s already worth over $424 billion. Richest man in the world. Tesla stock goes up once you return. But your influence isn’t dissipating any way imaginable. So to me, ladies and gentlemen, it was all it was much to do about nothing. It was a press conference to let the world know he’s back looking over Tesla instead of being a special employee for the government.”

More DOGE Employees Exit Office, Sources Claim
Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of Tesla and X, has officially stepped away from the Trump administration, marking the end of his tenure as a special government employee. Sources revealed that his departure came alongside the exit of several high-ranking DOGE officials, signaling a shift in the department’s leadership.

Among the departing officials are James Burnham, DOGE’s lead attorney, and Steve Davis, a senior adviser and longtime associate of Musk from his private ventures. Sources indicate that both individuals are in the process of transitioning out of their government roles.
Katie Miller, who served as a senior adviser and spokesperson for DOGE, is also leaving and is expected to continue working with Musk. Despite these changes, Musk assured that DOGE’s mission to optimize government efficiency will persist beyond his official involvement.

Though Elon Musk is stepping away from his formal position, he may still play an advisory role in the administration.
