Throughout the first three days of practice at the Shrine Bowl, there have been many standouts for both the Atlanta Falcons coached East team and the New England Patriots coached West team. Again, today both teams practiced outside at UNLV’s Fertitta Center. Many players, on both teams, have really improved their draft stock by participating in the event.

East Team Standouts at Shrine Bowl Practice

Running Back Tavion Thomas came in at just under 250 pounds but his weight has surely not been a factor as he looks just as fast as he did before he went down against Oregon in November. The leading back for the Utes at the time, Thomas has to be one of the players participating who is making a positive impact on his draft process.

Outside linebacker BJ Thompson from Stephen F. Austin has also shown off his freakish athleticism in individual one-on-one drills but also is throwing offensive tackles around in 11 on 11 drills. After missing the entire 2021 season and half of the 2022 season he is someone who looks to have improved into a possible late round pick if not a UDFA for sure.

Lastly, Safety A.J. Finley from Ole Miss had himself a day over the weekend at the Shrine Bowl. In one-on-one drills with wide receivers and tight ends, Finley did not allow a catch and had multiple interceptions. CBS Sports Emory Hunt made a joke talking about how you would think he should be playing offense with how much he had the ball in his hands.

West Team Standouts at Shrine Bowl Practice

UCLA’s Dorian Thompson-Robinson has shown that he is by far the most consistent passer at the entire event. He also is showing off his arm strength and pass timing with his receivers, which he put on display this season in the Pac-12. DTR is definitely solidifying himself as a nice prospect leading up to the draft.

Both Bill Belichick and #Patriots OC Bill O'Brien spent an extensive amount of time with UCLA QB and Vegas native Dorian Thompson-Robinson at Shrine Bowl practice today.

Out of all of the players here though there is one player who does not need to participate as his draft stock is as solid as they come already. Zay Flowers, who was advised not to participate in the event, wanted to come out to Vegas and prove why he is a first round pick. Boston College’s all-time leading receiver has garnered praise and admiration from all coaches and scouts in attendance.

As he is coached by the NFL staff who is just ten miles away from the Chestnut Hill campus, there has been a lot of attention placed on Flowers by head coach Troy Brown, who is the Patriots wide receiver’s coach.

Lastly, Punter Michael Turk from Oklahoma is proving why he should be a selection in this year’s draft. After declaring in 2020 and not being selected, Turk was able to return to college for his final two years of eligibility. Turk is also another player Belichick has mentioned a few times, with the punting situation in New England being what it was last season, Turk is someone who he is taking a flyer on for sure.

Tomorrow will be the last day of practice before the Shrine Bowl is played Thursday at 8:30
