The Philadelphia Eagles are going into the 2025 season looking to start a dynasty of their own. Following their dominant win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59, this team has all the confidence in the world rolling into the next season.
However, fans were a little confused by one of the teams’ most recent moves.

Following the acquisition of another quarterback by the Philadelphia Eagles, the team has made surprising release:
Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who was competing this summer for the Eagles’ No. 3 quarterback job, was waived on Sunday afternoon, the franchise announced.
The news of Thomspon-Robinson being cut came shortly after the Eagles traded for Vikings backup Sam Howell. Philadelphia acquired the former Washington Commanders starter from Minnesota, as well as a sixth-round pick, in exchange for a fifth-round pick.
The Eagles needed a better option as Jalen Hurts’ backup to start the season. Tanner McKee has a finger injury that will not require surgery, but he will miss some time.
The Eagles wouldn’t have had to trade for Howell if Thompson-Robinson or Kyle McCord, the sixth-round rookie out of Syracuse, performed well this preseason. But neither No. 3 options did enough to instill any sort of confidence.
Thompson-Robinson, who was acquired in the Kenny Pickett-Cleveland Browns trade in March, started training camp strong but faded fast.
