When it comes to Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback Jalen Hurts, many people have split opinions on the 23-year-old. Some don’t see him as the long-term option at the helm for the Eagles. Others are already speculating on the contract he will receive when his time for an extension will come. Could Hurts be in line for a huge pay day?
Eliot Shorr-Parks of WIP-FM reported Tuesday that the Eagles are “likely” to offer Hurts a deal in the range of $35-40 million following the 2022 season. That would put him in the same pay range as Denver Broncos QB Russell Wilson and Las Vegas QB Derek Carr just to name a few. It is not very often that we are talking about an extension for a guy who has only 19 regular season starts to his name, but here we are.
The #Eagles are likely going to give Jalen Hurts a massive QB contract next offseason ($35/40m+ per year). And that will be a good thing for the franchise.

Obviously, this will be a big year for Hurts. He showed a lot of development in 2021 under a new coaching staff headed by former Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni. Hurts started 15 games for the Eagles accumulating 3144 passing yards on a 61.3% completion percentage. He added 16 touchdowns to nine interceptions, along with another 784 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground. There is no doubt that Hurts is one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the league. Now the Eagles appear to be ready to pay him as such.
The Eagles made a huge move on draft night to acquire Titans WR A.J. Brown, and immediately inked him to a 4 year/$100 million deal. Hurts now sees a WR room that features Brown, former first round picks DeVonta Smith and Jalen Reagor, along with the 24-year old Quez Watkins and newly signed Zach Pascal who comes over from Indianapolis. Not to mention he has above average options in Dallas Goedert at tight end and Miles Sanders out of the back field. The weaponry is there. Now it is up to Hurts to prove to the Eagles front office that he is worth a big time extension.
