It was a heartbreaking loss for the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2 as they fell to the Atlanta Falcons at home.
In a matchup between NFC teams, Atlanta traveled to Philadelphia for Monday Night Football. It was Kirk Cousins’ touchdown pass to Drake London late in the fourth quarter that separated the two teams during a back-and-forth game.
Eagles’ fans are already clamoring for change after a 1-1 record when they feel they should be 2-0.
Eagles Fans: “Nick Sirianni Should Be Fired” For His Ridiculous Excuses For Head-Scratching Decision Against Falcons
With the Eagles leading late in the fourth quarter, head coach Nick Sirianni decided to throw the ball to put the game out of reach.
Although it was a good play, Saquon dropped it. As a result, the Eagles kicked a field goal, making the score 21-15.
Despite the 1:39 remaining on the clock, Kirk Cousins and the Falcons completed the come back for the win.
Sirianni explained his game-costing decision not to run it instead of passing it to Barkley, which would have taken more time off the clock against a team with no timeouts:

According to Darrelle Lincoln of Total Pro Sports:
“They were running a certain defense and junking it up in the middle, so we were trying to go on around the outside, and it didn’t work,” Sirianni said.
Nick Sirianni added that he considered the Falcons not having any timeouts before making the call.
“In that scenario, I was thinking they might not have any timeouts there, but obviously they did with the incomplete pass. That would have come down to maybe a minute, and so we wanted to go up six points and it didn’t work,” Sirianni added. “The decision to pass it there, like I said when they were junking it up inside with it being fourth and three to go for it, I thought with them not having any timeouts, I wanted them to be down a touchdown and see if they could drive the field and they did. Hats off to them.”
Sirianni’s firing has been demanded by fans:

I’m still mystified how Nick Sirianni kept his job. When no one can explain what exactly that dude does.
He gave high fives, gave an interview, and yelled at refs. That’s what he did tonight.
