The 37-year-old edge rusher is the Eagles’ longest-tenured player in NFL history. The University of Michigan player earned $97 million during his NFL career, which first ended in March 2025 after the champion took Philly to the jaw-dropping win against the Red Army in the Super Bowl.
It was impressive that he even played in New Orleans, as he had come back from a torn triceps injury suffered in Week 12 of last season. But he injured the same muscle again during that win.
Drafted in the first round in 2010, Graham retired as the Eagles’ all-time leader in games played (206), third in career sacks (76.5), and first in postseason sacks (5.5).
He’s also one of only four players to take part in both of Philadelphia’s Super Bowl victories, the first against the New England Patriots in 2017 and the second against Kansas City this year.
After his injury, Graham played 13 snaps and made a single tackle in the 40-22 victory against Travis Kelce and the Chiefs. However, his most memorable career moment was the 2017 Super Bowl, when his strip-sack of Tom Brady won the Eagles their first Super Bowl ever.
Smith’s time with the Eagles was short-lived, like a snowman after his sudden retirement last week. Now things are getting clearer that Graham will likely return to the Eagles. And NFL insider Adam Schefter pointed out his potential return:
“Following defensive end Za’Darius Smith’s retirement, former Eagle Brandon Graham is now strongly considering coming out of retirement to sign with Philadelphia.”
But the fans couldn’t keep calm.
One fan stated, “He’s signing with the Phillies and hitting cleanup?!”
Others stated, “U retired a champion, why do this 😭🙏?”
A fan chimed, “Wonder what it is.”
A fan commented, “He is going to be part of the coaching staff.”
Others said, “Damn, Unc, they needed the locker room babysitter, I see … should’ve gone out on top!”
While it’s not certain whether Brandon will make a return, if he does, he will surely be a lucky charm to the Eagles in this horrendous situation.
