The Duke Blue Devils recorded two big interceptions against the Florida State Seminoles, but were robbed of the third interception.
Duke had never had success against the Florida State Seminoles before this season to forget for the Tallahassee fans. The Blue Devils not only managed to secure the win, but also managed to dominate the Seminoles offense in the process of doing so. Florida State did not record over 300-yards combined of offense against the Blue Devils, a feat that the team had never achieved previously.
Duke managed to record 180-yards of total offense against Florida State, and won the game behind the success of the defense. The defense also scored what would become a crucial touchdown returning an interception. Duke also capitalized when given a short field, which allowed for the team to pull off the narrow win.

The game could have ended sooner for the Duke Blue Devils if one call at the end of the game went their way. The Blue Devils recorded an interception off quarterback Brock Glenn, his third of the game, but it was erased. After review, the call on the field was incomplete and stood because the only camera view showed what looked like a foot step out of bounds.
The refs are calling this an incomplete pass on the potential Duke interception…

However, the view was incredible blurry and it is hard to even tell if the defender really did step out of bounds. The play would prove not to be major as the Seminoles failed to record a first-down following a holding penalty. But, it was still an interception that arguably should have went the way of the Duke Blue Devils.
Duke Blue Devils Beat Florida State Seminoles Behind Big Defensive Play
While all the talk pregame was placed upon the Florida State offense, the Duke defense would be what fans would remember after the game.
The Blue Devils managed to record three takeaways on three consecutive plays against the Seminoles to start the game. Duke forced Florida State coach Mike Norvell to bench his starting quarterback Glenn due to his poor play. Glenn would be put back into the game after the defense allowed backup Luke Kromenhoek just 19-yards through the air.
The Blue Devils forced four total turnovers with two interceptions and two fumbles on the night. Defensive back Chandler Rivers and linebacker Ozzie Nicholas were responsible for the interceptions, with Rivers returning his for a touchdown. Defenders Ryan Smith and Preston Watson each recovered a fumble for the Duke Blue Devils defense as well.
