During the 2024 NFL season, the Kansas City Chiefs won the AFC West once again and they had a 15-2 record. Kansas City won several one possession games during the 2024 NFL season and many people thought that the Chiefs got lucky.

Many fans have felt like they have gotten lucky over the last couple of years. Kansas City was trying to three-peat last year, but they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl LIX. Could this be the end of the Chiefs dynasty? There is a chance that it could be the case entering the 2025 NFL season.

NFL Analyst Thinks A Massive Regression Could Occur For the Kansas City Chiefs In 2025

Frank Schwab of Yahoo Sports has the Chiefs ranked number four in his power rankings before the start of the 2025 NFL season. However, he has many questions about Kansas City entering the 2025 NFL season. Schwab said,

“If this were any other team, we’d look at these stats and immediately recognize a team that got incredibly lucky last season and is due for a massive regression after being exposed by what looked like a far superior team in their final game. But this is the Chiefs. We treat them differently, and they have earned that.

Where do the Chiefs go from here? Does the dynasty roll on? For that the Chiefs would either need to improve overall or maintain a mind-blowing run in close games. Perhaps both happen. Every time it seems like the Chiefs are showing some kind of weakness, they win another AFC championship. This season they’ll welcome back receiver Rashee Rice from a season-ending knee injury, though he could face an NFL suspension for his role in a multi-car accident last year. Running back Isiah Pacheco never seemed right after returning from a fractured fibula, and it should help if he returns to form. Travis Kelce decided to return for another season instead of retiring. Kansas City was able to retain some key free agents this offseason. There are positive signs going into the season.

Kansas City seems determined to show that Super Bowl LIX was a fluke. On the other hand, it can be argued plenty of its 2024 season success was fluky.”

The Super Bowl blowout could be a major sign of things to come for the Chiefs in 2025. The AFC West continues to get better. Also, the Los Angeles Chargers and the Denver Broncos made the playoffs in 2024. During the offseason, the Las Vegas Raiders made changes to make a run at a playoff spot in 2025.

Things could feel different for quarterback Patrick Mahomes, head coach Andy Reid, and company in 2025. Kansas City for now will be the favorites in the AFC and the AFC West. However, the Chiefs winning 15 games again this upcoming season will most likely not happen. There could be a changing of the guard in the division in 2025 also.
