ASU Fan Gets Wrecked

“Dude in Red Probably Stole His Girl the First Week of School”: Football Fans Go Wild as ASU Fan Gets Wrecked in Stands, Then Handcuffed

Wild scenes erupted in the stands at Mountain America Stadium during Arizona State’s season opener against Northern Arizona on August 30. The Sun Devils started the season the best possible way by defeating Northern Arizona on Saturday.

But they failed from the fans’ perspective. While the whole Mountain America Stadium enjoyed their win, one ASU fan could not. And many on social media think it was not his fault; rather he became the victim. According to them, police arrested the wrong guy.

Social Media Reacts as Arizona State vs. Northern Arizona Fans Trade Punches

A viral video showed an Arizona State fan in a yellow shirt taking a barrage of punches from an opposing fan in red. Another clip showed that security then arrested the yellow one while the aggressor of the first clip walked away.

The Sun Devils drew 56,759 fans, surpassing the stadium’s 53,599 capacity for their first home opener sellout since 1998. However, the bizarre fan brawl left everyone scratching their heads as the on-field heroics took a backseat to the chaos in the bleachers.

Fans exploded with outrage as the video made rounds across every platform. Mostly, the lopsided nature of the altercation and confusing arrest sparked immediate debate on X.

“Dude in red probably stole his girl the first week of school,” one user joked, sharing the absurdity that many felt watching the incident unfold.

Some were frustrated with bystanders stepping in. “There’s always some stupid a** f***ing girl trying to get in the middle of the fight,” another fan complained.

The arrest of the apparent victim drew the harshest criticism. “Hey police, what the hell is your problem? You got the wrong guy,” one user fired back at authorities.

Another fan called for equal treatment, penning, “Better arrested the guy in red too for assault. Who threw the first punch? Red.”

The clip turned into evidence for those defending the yellow guy. “Look at the footage, he did nothing!” demanded another supporter.

A jealous rival fan couldn’t resist trolling the red one who actually punched the ASU fan. He remarked, “Knocked him out, avoided arrest, and accidentally groped the girl. Starting off the season undefeated.”

However, such fan behavior has become increasingly common and for this, security protocols often fall under serious scrutiny. But when emotions run high, the rules tfo out of the window.

Arizona State Dominates Big 12 Rankings Despite Slow Start

While the fight stole headlines, Arizona State handled business on the field with a convincing 38-19 victory over Northern Arizona. The Sun Devils entered as the defending Big 12 champions ranked No. 11 and showed why they’re considered playoff contenders again.

The win keeps ASU undefeated to start the season as they look to build on their historic 2024 campaign that saw them capture their first Big 12 title and reach the College Football Playoff. Plus, it also extended their home opener winning streak to 26 games, the second-longest active streak in the nation behind Illinois.

Coach Kenny Dillingham’s squad faces higher expectations this year after proving they can compete with college football’s elite programs. It is quite practical because the dominant outing against NAU served notice that last year’s breakthrough wasn’t a fluke.
