Drake Maye got his first win as a starter, playing through the whole game, as he had left against the New York Jets halfway through the game. Maye has quickly taken over the New England Patriots franchise in just a few short weeks, and the players and coaching staff have had nothing but incredible things to say about Drake’s talent and more importantly, his leadership.
The Patriots have clearly found their quarterback for the future with Maye, and he has shown it on and off the field. With one of, if not the worst offensive line, and some of the worst weapons and run game in the NFL, Drake has produced at a very high level for a rookie. That was on full display on Sunday, as Drake got the win and had a solid game, while the No. 1 pick Caleb Williams is losing the locker room.
Drake Maye’s Leadership On Full Display
The quotes coming out of New England from the players about Maye have been incredible, and Patriots fans have growing optimism every week with Maye that he is the future for the team, and by far the best quarterback to come through the building since the great Tom Brady left.
After the win, Drake had the media clap it up for the team’s defense after an incredible performance on Sunday holding the Bears to just 3 points all game:

Everything about Maye, who is just 22 years old, shows that he will be in this league for a very long time. His leadership is off the charts for a rookie let alone a very young rookie, and the players in that locker room absolutely love him.
After their big win, Maye went up to all of the offensive line and thanked each of them for how they protected him throughout the game:

That is a real winner right there, and a real leader of men at just 22 years old! Hearing the quotes that are coming out of New England is giving Patriots fans a lot to believe in for the first time in half a decade.
While the Patriots season is effectively over in terms of any playoff hopes, they will have a lot to look forward to for next year. Th team will have the most cap space by far and can secure some of the top free agents at receiver and offensive line, and with Myae in the building, it would not be surprising at all to see this team in the playoffs very soon.

Quotes like that on a 22-year-old kid are just amazing. Clearly Maye is something special, as amna beyond the football field, and it is only a matter of time until he takes over this league as in the mix at the very top of the quarterbacks. While the team will play a lot of great teams to end their season, this will be a great test for Maye to see how he will compete against the best teams in his division.
