When it comes to Donovan Peoples-Jones, he is ready to play any role the Browns give him. When asked if he is ready to be receiver number two behind Amari Cooper, he had this to say:
“That’s not for me to decide. I just come in everyday and work.”
With his skills, he should definitely be a candidate for receiver number two.
What Can Put Donovan Peoples-Jones Over the Edge?
Peoples-Jones has the ability to be a solid player. He probably is still growing into his skills, though.
While playing college football with Michigan, his time there consisted of a few injuries and the offensive system didn’t fit him very well. But, he has impressed many while in Cleveland.
The Browns have some weapons in the passing game in Amari Cooper, David Njoku, Anthony Schwartz, David Bell, and Peoples-Jones himself.
Peoples-Jones has some special skills. One of his best skills is with contested catches.
Probably the best example of this skill was just last year. At the end of the first half against the Arizona Cardinals, Baker Mayfield threw up a prayer and Peoples-Jones came down with it.
Holy smokes. Baker Mayfield launches a Hail Mary and Donovan Peoples-Jones comes down with it! pic.twitter.com/EucELAu2lq

Peoples-Jones should get a good amount of targets this season, but he may still not be receiver number two for the Browns.
What Might Keep Peoples-Jones Out of the Second Spot?
The number of options the Browns have to throw to might keep him around a third spot.
The most likely number two option will probably be David Njoku.
After Njoku signed his four-year extension, it felt like he was going to be the second option behind Amari Cooper.
Njoku’s skills are pretty similar to Peoples-Jones, especially in the catching department.
Baker and the @Browns have 41 on the board in Cincinnati! 🔥#Browns (+112) have more than doubled up the @Bengals and its 41-16!

Peoples-Jones doesn’t need to be the number two option with Njoku there. You shouldn’t expect him to be the number two option either, especially with how much Stefanski likes using tight ends in his offense. Peoples-Jones can definitely contribute in another role.
Where Else Can Peoples-Jones Contribute?
Any role that Peoples-Jones is put in, he could help out the Browns’ offense. With his catching skills, he can definitely do very well.
He has some potential the Browns can capitalize on, and Peoples-Jones is ready to play this year.
“I’m excited for this year. I’m excited for what’s to come.”
The Browns could be a very good team this season, and all of Cleveland should be excited if their off-season pans out well.
