Despite his low satisfaction ratings, US President Donald Trump remains unbeatable by the Democratic Party. At least, this is what analyst and broadcaster Stephen A. Smith thinks of the matter.
In one of his videos, Stephen A. Smith talked about the low satisfaction ratings for the first 100 days of Donald Trump back in office, and why these numbers are significant for the Democratic Party.
“So there you have it, here’s what I walk away with more than anything—despite his low approval ratings, he’s still more popular than the Democrats,” Smith said. “So it’s really the ultimate indictment against the Democratic party because, again, despite the noise that he has made and despite unfavorably he’s looked upon, the Democrats still can’t beat him.”
“Because you still have nobody to beat him, you don’t have a face that resonates nationally,” he continued. “You don’t have somebody who’s dogged in their beliefs who happens to be able to resonate. We saw Corey Booker, the senator, who’s been a guest on this show, speak for 25 straight hours not too many people cared.”
As for Stephen A. Smith himself, the ESPN analyst has expressed in the past weeks that he is rooting for a run at the presidency, citing dissatisfaction with the current state of American politics.

President Donald Trump Records Historic First 100 Days Approval Ratings
Donald Trump’s approval ratings have hit historic lows as he approaches the 100-day mark of his second term, with just 39% of Americans approving of his performance—the lowest for any U.S. president in the past 80 years.
A majority of Americans, 72%, believe his economic policies are likely to trigger a recession, while 73% say the economy is in poor shape. These concerns are compounded by rising inflation, with 62% of respondents blaming his tariffs for driving up prices. The economic discontent has overshadowed Trump’s promises of a financial turnaround, leaving many skeptical about his leadership.

Beyond the economy, Trump faces criticism for his governance style and policy decisions. 65% of Americans believe his administration is attempting to avoid complying with federal court orders, and 64% think he is overreaching in expanding presidential powers3. Additionally, 62% feel his administration does not respect the rule of law. These perceptions have fueled concerns about the erosion of democratic norms under his leadership.

On specific policy issues, Trump’s approval ratings are underwater, with majorities disapproving of his handling of foreign relations, stock market volatility, and tariffs. Despite these challenges, Trump retains strong support among his core base, with 94% of his voters standing by their decision.
