Did President Donald Trump just give his endorsement to ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith? While it may sound like it, the sports broadcaster gave his honest take on the position he would like most to be in, with regards to a potential run for the presidency in 2008.
In one of the recent episodes of “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” the ESPN analyst talked about the “endorsement” Donald Trump gave him, and the position he would like most to be in at the moment.
“If there was a position that I clamor for more than anything in the world, it’s the position that Joe Rogan was in leading up to the election,” Smith said. “Kamala Harris should have gone to visit him. Donald Trump did. And there are a lot of people who have speculated that that is a huge reason why Donald Trump won the election. I don’t know whether that’s true or not, but would I desire people talking about me having that kind of impact? You damn right I would.”
Donald Trump visited Joe Rogan for a three-hour interview on The Joe Rogan Experience in October 2024, marking his first appearance on the popular podcast. Rogan had previously declined multiple invitations to host Trump, stating that he did not want to help him politically.
During their conversation, Trump and Rogan discussed a range of topics, including immigration, economic policies, and UFC events, with the two bonding over their shared love for combat sports.

However, Rogan changed his stance after the assassination attempt on Trump during a July 2024 rally in Pennsylvania, explaining that the incident made him feel the timing was right for the interview.
Stephen A. Smith Gets Honest About Donald Trump “Endorsement”
Obviously, regardless of how some of you feel about him, he’s still the president of the United States. And if the president of the United States sits up there and says something like that, it counts for something.
“But I have never been a politician. I have never been interested in being a politician. No disrespect to any individuals. I just consider the industry that is of politics where folks are professional beggars who perpetually own owe favors. And that’s not how I roll.”

Donald Trump’s approval rating after his first 100 days in office has hovered around 41-45%, marking one of the lowest ratings for a newly elected president in recent decades. Discontent over economic policies, immigration, and trade decisions has contributed to his declining favorability, with many Americans expressing frustration over his leadership.
