US President Donald Trump has appointed legendary college football head coach Nick Saban as co-chair of his new college sports commission, sources have reported.
A report by The Athletic revealed that former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban has been appointed by President Donald Trump as co-chair of a newly formed college sports commission, alongside Texas Tech Board of Regents Chairman Cody Campbell.
The commission aims to address key issues in college athletics, including athlete compensation, transfer rules, booster payments, and Title IX enforcement. Saban, a seven-time national champion, has been vocal about the need for regulation in Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals, arguing that the current system has created an imbalanced playing field.

Despite supporting athletes earning revenue, Nick Saban opposes granting them employee status, advocating instead for a structured system that maintains the integrity of college sports. His appointment comes amid growing concerns over the House v. NCAA settlement, which allows schools to allocate $20.5 million in revenue for direct athlete compensation without classifying them as employees.
