According to the Wall Street Journal:
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R., Ga.) bought shares of 19 companies and sold between $50,001 and $100,000 worth of Treasury bills on April 8 and 9, according to financial disclosures released today. President Trump announced a 90-day pause on some tariffs on April 9, sending markets soaring.
The new filings come after Democratic Reps. Greg Casar of Texas and Robert Garcia of California called for an investigation into Greene’s trades last Thursday. Disclosures from last week showed Greene purchased shares in 17 companies in the two days following Trump’s initial “Liberation Day” announcement, when the market was deeply in the red.
Trump’s tariff U-turn led top Democrats, including Sens. Chuck Schumer and Elizabeth Warren, to call for investigations into trading activity. In response, Greene said her trades are managed by an outside financial adviser and all of her investments “are reported with full transparency.” Congress passed a law in 2012 requiring members to disclose stock trades within 45 days. All of Greene’s disclosures so far this year have been filed within several days of the transactions.
