Ivanka kept her caption short, using just a flag and football emoji when sharing the posts. One video shows the pair in the White House colonnade tossing the ball back and forth.

The White House Facebook page posted the photo carousel with the caption “Quick Break from the Oval, Because He’s Still Grandpa” on November 21.

Another user on Instagram shared the video saying, “He’s still Grandpa! 💙 #NEW President Trump plays football with Theo in the White House Colonade”. The casual family football session received wide attention on social media platforms. Multiple news outlets reported on the president’s downtime with his grandson.

Theodore Kushner is the youngest child of Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner. Ivanka and Jared have three children together: Arabella Rose, Joseph Frederick and Theodore James. The family occasionally visits the White House for special occasions and quality time.

Earlier this year in April, Ivanka shared that “This weekend was truly special—Theo, playing quarterback, participated in his first flag football tournament”. She added that “the team advanced to the championship game held at Dallas Cowboys’ practice stadium—a dream come true for my football-loving eight-year-old”. Theodore clearly has a genuine passion for the sport.

In April, Theodore also played an “original composition” on the piano for his grandfather at the White House. After Theo finished, the president told his grandson, “Yeah, you’re good” showing his support. These family moments highlight Trump’s relationship with his grandchildren beyond politics.

In April, Theodore also threw and caught a football with Philadelphia Eagles star Saquon Barkley at the White House. Ivanka wrote, “My highlight of the day? Theo challenging @saquon to a race in the Rose Garden after my father wisely demurred!” The nine-year-old got to meet his sports heroes.

President Donald Trump also shared his own thoughts about NFL Week 12 games on social media. He questioned New York Giants head coach Mike Kafka’s decision not to kick a field goal, writing, “Why did the New York Football Giants not kick that Field Goal???” Football remains important to the entire Trump family.

Ivanka has been a scarce presence throughout Trump’s second term and hasn’t returned to Washington regularly since his inauguration in January. She told a podcast in January that she would not return to the “very dark, negative business” of politics. However, she still supports her father from a distance.
