The feud between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk is an opportunity for the Democrats, at least that is what analyst Stephen A. Smith believes.
In one of the recent episodes of his program “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” the ESPN analyst talked about and gave his honest opinion on the issue of the relationship between President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk turning sour.
In his piece, Smith mentioned that while the situation between Elon Musk and Trump looks “ugly,” he believes that there is always the possibility that the two figures can find a way to make amends, one way or the other. However, one thing about this ongoing feud bothers him, and he thinks the people from the Democratic Party should take advantage of.
“Here’s the part that I want people to peel from this coming from my mouth,” Smith said. “This is an opportunity for the Democrats. It’s an opportunity. If you’re Elon Musk, you’re talking about creating a third party, having that independent party, throwing your muscle behind that independent party to help candidates get into office. It’s not beyond appeal that he’d be willing to do that for the Democrats.”

Smith explained how Musk has had a history of showing support and openly voting for political figures in the past, only to drop his support when said figure no longer aligns with what he believes in politically. Musk, he noted, voted for Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden in the past, who are both candidates of the Democratic Party.
“So, who’s to say that even though he supported Trump in 2024, that he won’t now that he’s turned against Trump, he won’t elect to support Democrats in their quest to win the midterms and to regain some level of control in 2026?” he added. “This is an opportunity for Democrats, the ones that are willing to be centrists, because we know the extreme progressive left turned Elon Musk off.”
Why the Donald Trump, Elon Musk Relationship Soured
The relationship between President Donald Trump and tech mogul Elon Musk experienced a sour turn over the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a budget reconciliation bill that Trump openly supports, but Musk disagrees with.

For Musk, the Act could increase the nation’s federal deficit, which goes against his entire principle of founding the Department of Government Efficiency or DOGE. Msuk openly called the bill a “disgusting abomination.”

In response, Donald Trump hit back at Musk, saying that he was only upset about the cuts to the subsidies his electric vehicle business got.
