With President Donald Trump ordering extreme measures in dealing with escalating protests in Los Angeles, California, analyst Stephen A. Smith raised a question addressed to Governor Gavin Newsom.
In one of his recent videos, Stephen A. Smith acknowledged that he understood where Governor Gavin Newsom was coming from, particularly since over 40% of the population of California is of Latin descent. However, he also highlighted that the majority of this part of the population are undocumented immigrants, and how Donald Trump has the upper hand in the issue.
“Donald Trump has lost cases before when states and others have filed lawsuits against him,” Smith said. “Some of the executive orders that he’s issued has not been successful. And we know that his efforts in this particular instance may end up being derailed. But that does not mean that Governor Newsom is not playing directly into his hands.”
“He himself said this is exactly what Donald Trump wanted. Well, forgive this rhetorical question. Then why the hell are you giving it to him? Why the hell are you playing right into the hands of Donald Trump?”
Smith then highlighted that Donald Trump is “winning” with regard to the issue of immigrants and dealing with undocumented ones.
“There’s a reason he won a popular vote,” Smith added. “There’s a reason he won an electoral college vote. There’s a reason he won every swing state. There are people within the United States of America that want our immigration crisis addressed and want the situation resolved somehow some way and a person that seems eager to bring a resolution to the table is President Donald Trump.”

The issue is in light of President Donald Trump recently ordering the deployment of more than 2,000 National Guard troops and Marines to Los Angeles to respond to the ongoing protest against ICE raids against undocumented immigrants.
Donald Trump Sued by California Governor
California Governor recently led a lawsuit against President Donald Trump, citing the President’s federalization of the California National Guard as the basis for it. Newsom argued that deploying the National Guard and the Marines to Los Angeles in response to ongoing protests is an abuse of power.

The lawsuit claimed that the deployment of over 2,000 troops without the consent of the state was unconstitutional and violated the President’s state authority.

Donald Trump, through Truth Social, made a statement that claimed that thLos Angeles would have been “completely obliterated,” had he not ordered what he had ordered. He also downplayed Governor Newsom’s comments, accusing him of lying to the public.
