US President Donald Trump wants the Washington Commanders to go back to their old name of Washington Redskins, bringing about a mixed reaction from the public. President Trump recently posted on Truth Social that the Commanders should use their old name as a way of honoring Native American people, and that a lot of them have been eager for the change.

The Commanders have been going by their current name ever since the 2022 NFL season. The team actually moved on from ‘Redskins’ in the 2020 season when they went by the Washington Football Team for a couple of seasons. The decision to change from Redskins was because of a move from sponsors who felt that the name offended Native Americans. However, the current POTUS is spinning a different story that Native Americans want the name to return.

“The Washington ‘Whatever’s’ should IMMEDIATELY change their name back to the Washington Redskins Football Team. There is a big clamoring for this. . . . . Our great Indian people, in massive numbers, want this to happen. Their heritage and prestige is systematically being taken away from them. Times are different now than they were three or four years ago. We are a Country of passion and common sense. OWNERS, GET IT DONE!!!” US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social.

US President Donald Trump not only asked the Washington Commanders to return to their previous name, but also threatened that he wouldn’t get their new stadium in Washington D.C. done if they did not make the change.

Donald Trump’s Presidency Prompts Ellen DeGeneres To Move To UK

On another note, US President Donald Trump was recently stated as the reason as to why comedienne Ellen DeGeneres relocated to the UK along with her wife, Portia.  In a recent conversation with broadcaster Richard Bacon, DeGeneres was asked if her move was because of the sitting POTUS to which she responded in the affirmative.

DeGeneres also remarked that she and her wife would definitely be renewing their vows in the United Kingdom, reasoning that President Trump might soon make gay marriage illegal. The comedienne and former talk show host also mentioned that life in the UK is “just better” than what she was used to in the United States. Apart from DeGeneres, a number of LGBTQ+ representatives have voiced their growing frustration with the Trump administration’s policies against their community.
